A bug has been found in the DCC transfer disconnect code that can cause HydraIRC to crash if a malicious users sends an specially formatted DCC command to you. The bug has been fixed and a new version will be released soon but there are some other issues that need to be resolved before an update can be released.

In the mean time disable dcc auto accept (in prefs/misc) and don't cancel any 0 byte pending file transfers.

As an aside if you find issues with HydraIRC please ensure you follow the correct bug reporting procedure and don't just bitch and moan in the irc channel that your bug has not been fixed.

I always try and fix crash bugs as soon as I'm notified. If you've posted a bug report and no reply has been received (maybe because I'm away, busy or whatever) then follow it up a few days later with an email or PM me directly or any other op who can relay the information to me. Don't get angry and assume know-one cares, don't expect miracles and please try to remember that we're not some giant corporation that has infinite amouts of money and resources which can be used to attend to your every need.

Also, don't forget that you can donate! Donations really help spur on development and are always gratefully received!

I would also like to take this opportunity to remind existing users that this is the first time in five years any security issues have been identified by a third party and that's not forgetting that the source code is available to anyone who wants to see it via doxygen (see irc channel for details). Patches and recommendations for security issues are always welcomed!
